With October being Domestic Violence Awareness month, we’ve decided to dedicate it to supporting one of our favorite charities. Miriam’s Basket works closely with Child Protective Service agencies to provide clothes and personal items to children in need. These children are often displaced, having been removed from their homes and relocated into the foster-care system. In many cases, circumstances are so bad that the only thing they’re able to leave with are the clothes on their back.
This is where Miriam’s Basket steps in. Year to date, they have provided gift bags full of clothes to 374 kids between the ages of 1 – 18 within the last year. To this date, they have helped 971 kids in Clay County.
We want to help them help the kids, and had an idea of one way to do that. In previous years, at their “Doin’ a Good Thing” silent auction and dinner to raise money for the charity, the founders of Miriam’s Basket have hung a butterfly on the wall to represent every child that’s been helped that year. This year, there were to many to hang. We had the wonderful designer at Black Black Moon collaborate with us on a line of precious little butterfly necklaces. We can each adorn ourselves with a butterfly to represent these children.
During the month of October, Ryan’s Daughters will donate proceeds from sales on our website To Miriam’s Basket. And, 100% of proceeds from the Miriam’s Butterfly of Hope Necklace is dedicated to go directly to this awesome organization.
